Do you remember going into a toy store seeing little kids saying, “I want that, give me, give me. I want that one or I am going to scream”? If that child never asked for that toy, we would not know he wanted it. When a baby cries, it sometimes means it is hungry and needs food. If they never cry, then we may not know they are hungry. If we never ask for something, who would know we want something?
Prayer is the act of talking to God and asking for his advice or help perhaps during difficult times. Whether you’re going through a divorce, the death of a friend or family member, or just having a hard time with life, God is there for you. It states in the bible that, “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:31-32, New International Version). Even when we think that God isn’t with us, He is. We just have to believe and pray as often as we can. Sometimes when we are at our lowest point, there is only one place to look, up to God in the heavens above. God knows what we want and what we need. But He wants us to talk to him. He wants to ask us for our wants and needs.
