The Power of Our Words

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony,…” Rev 12:11. What a sobering scripture. This scripture is from Revelations. A book in the Bible so profound and mysterious that it baffles many scholars even to this day.

The “him” in this passage refers to the Anti-Christ, a character who comes right before the Return of Christ who deceives and cons the masses with his miraculous works, intellect and promises of peace. He is Satan incarnate. And believers are warned in Revelations of his true intent.

Despite his power, this verse assures believers that we will conquer him through the blood of Christ and the power of our testimonies. It might seem like an unusual combination of weapons, but it highlights the strength of our stories. The Bible teaches us the power of words in Proverbs 18:21: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” Our testimonies, spoken or written, can destroy evil and lead to salvation, just like the blood of Christ.

Our testimonies can:

  • Offer Hope and Encouragement: Sharing how we overcame challenges can inspire others facing similar struggles.

  • Build Faith Communities: Sharing our faith experiences can strengthen the bonds within our communities.

  • Spread Kindness and Love: Sharing stories of love and compassion can create a more positive world.
