A hurricane, typhoon, ice storm, fire storm, and thunderstorm are the natural storms that we don’t want to be caught in. But daily life can also throw us quiet a storm. Having relationship troubles, getting fired from your job, or just having a bad day can cause an emotional storm. No matter what storm you caught up in, only one person can calm the storm, and that is Jesus Christ.
Ryan Stevenson’s song called “Eye of the Storm” describes Jesus Christ’s power. “In the eye of the storm You remain in control” (Stevenson). He is the calmness in the storm. He controls the storm. Our lives get hectic at some points. Sometimes our worries crash down on us hard, like a wave in a storm. Cynthia Oyenuga is one of the authors of It’s My Testimony: A Devotional Journal for Women by Women. In her devotional, she writes, “God can calm any storm” (p. 87). She is right. No matter what obstacles are thrown at us, God will be there for us and control the storm. We must have faith that He can and that He is willing to help us. One verse from the Bible is probably the best way give God control and that is from Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God” (New International Version).
It’s My Testimony: A Devotional Journal for Women by Women includes thirty-one essays, which were written by thirty diverse women. Cynthia's essay is just on of them. These essays describe these women’s hardships and how they have overcome them with the help of God. If you want to learn more of God helping those with the storms of life, then please consider buying the book.
