A testimony is a tradition that has existed for thousands of years. It first began when people started telling stories to each other. Testimonies exist in court, book reviews, church, and more. If you ever watch police shows on TV, then you will most likely see a person giving their testimony, both verbally and physically on pen and paper. That person is telling his or her story of previous events that occurred. In court, you tell the judge what happened and give proof to back up your testimony. You may also find testimonies about books. People are free to express how they feel about a particular book that they read. Testimonies can also appear in a religious setting, such as a church.
In church, most people give their testimonies based upon how they came to know Jesus Christ. Testimonies in the church mainly focus upon three main points, which are their life before Christ, how they came to know Him, and how He has changed their lives. Sharing testimonies in church is important, because it inspires others to learn about Jesus Christ. Knowing that other people have suffered and been able to bounce back with the aid of Jesus Christ is what may inspire someone else who has gone through a similar situation. It gives other people hope to see others have pulled through the same storms in their lives. It brings people closer together.
It’s My Testimony: A Devotional Journal for Women by Women is a book that includes thirty-one testimonies. Each woman shares a part of their lives where the ground that they walked on might have been shaky, but God was there with them. He is their rock that they stand upon and face the whatever tidal waves may come their way. If you are interested in reading some testimonies, then I insist you to take a look at this book.
